6 January:
Another year starts, an interesting calendar for this season sees us finally take a trip to Rockingham. Also new to us is the double header meeting at Pembrey, and with three trips to Brands Hatch and one to Silverstone, the local races are well catered for.
2004 proved to be a good season, the kappa was only ever intended to run in midfield, but 8 finishes from 9 starts gave us enough points to finish 4th in the championship, just 4 points off 2nd place. A shame that we didn't have the car ready for the first race of the season, but a lot of other guys can point to 'ifs' and 'buts' as well.
We intend to up the ante a little this year, the kappa is back with Auto Integrale for some major development work, chief of which is replacing the standard 3 litre V6 engine with a 2 litre 20 valve turbo engine as used in the Fiat Coupe. A few extra parts have already been ordered and we are hopeful of running at least 350bhp, maybe a few more.
Weight was always an issue in 2004, for 2005 Alpha Composites have been engaged to produce composite doors and front bumper to go with the boot and front wings fitted late last season. We are hoping to lose at least 100kgs from the kappa and get below 1100kgs by the start of the season.
