Lancia kappa 20vt - February 2005
20vt engine conversion
Auto Integrale are currently working on the engine conversion from 24v V6 to Fiat Coupe 20vt engine. Time for a progress update
The engine has been built up from a low mileage engine, lightly overbored to 83mm giving an engine capacity of 2047cc to accomodate the forged pistons. Colombo and Bariani camshafts have been fitted, while Stealth Systems have produced a special manifold to attached the Garrett T34 turbocharger to, the exhaust system being finished off with a 3" system all the way to the back.
This week the engine has been installed in the kappa. In theory this should have been an easy exercise, a standard road engine had already been installed in place so the exhaust and manifold could be made to suit, but plumbing everything in required a little more work, not least due to the size of the intercooler. Apologise for the poor quality photos below, the sun was making a rare winter appearance!
Only three weeks to go until race 1 and it would be desirable to get in a test before that! Its not looking too good at the moment, a lot of problems have reared their ugly head, but it won't be for want of trying. Next update will be when we have the car running!
